What I'm Doing Now
This is my now page, which gives a feel for what I’m up to lately. I update this page every few months, usually around the turn of the academic semester.
Roles
I am a Professor in the Psychology Department at Utah State University. I work mostly in the School Psychology PhD program and EdS program, and I’m the current Director of Training for the PhD program.
My professor role entails mentoring doctoral students, teaching graduate seminars on mental health services, and providing clinical training and supervision for graduate students doing mental health practicum in schools. It also involves doing a lot of research. I run the School Mental Health Lab and collaborate with colleagues at other universities on several ongoing projects.
Beyond my professor role, I am an Associate Editor and the Editor Elect for School Psychology Review, which is one of the leading research journals in my field. I am also a consultant with the Utah School Mental Health Collaborative.
Projects
I have an unruly number of research projects going on these days. I can’t decide how to present these projects effectively on this page, so, in the meantime, please see my Google Scholar profile to get a sense of recent projects. Papers I’ve published in 2024–25 are a good representation of the kind or work my lab is still doing now. Current project themes include behavioral and mental health screening, subjective well-being measurement, mindfulness-based intervention, and school mental health services.
Horizon
I will be on sabbatical for the 2025–26 academic year. That means no teaching, far fewer meetings, and a lot more time for reading, thinking, and writing. Huzzah!
After finishing out my Editor Elect term with School Psychology Review this year, I will transition to the Editor in Chief role for 2026–2030.
